It was a perfect day, mild temperature, fall sun, gentle breeze. Light rain the night before made the soil perfect for working and planting bulbs. I was in the Zen of planting bulbs. The bulbs were nestled in for the long sleep, I was thinking about the promise of spring the bulbs represented. Pleased that it was such a perfect day and getting the bulbs in were the last of my chores for the day. Walking back to the house I had the organza bulb bag, glanced down and noticed the tag said Snowdrops, how could that be...I just planted 100 red tulips humilis, not white snowdrops! My Zen was fading, white just did not go in that spot, being freshly planted how hard could it be to dig up those misplaced bulbs, peel back the previously carefully planted grass and soil, dig them out and replace with the correct color. Once again my Zen was back, all was good in the universe. Wonder how many white snowdrops were missed.

After thinking briefly about it, decided to go back, peel the grass off and removed the snowdrops (I'm sure a few will have remained ) and filled the site with the red violet Humilis and the blue Tommies. Looking forward to Spring and 21 Dec!

Since the snow drops come up so early it was a good mistake, They will be gone then your tulips will be your second wave.

Yes mine are still up but my tulips are not blooming yet. The only other I have up now are the daffs. Snowdrops hang on as long as it is cold or cool they will fad quick if when it warms up.

The good thing about a white flower and a little bud like these they will not clash with your tulips if there are a few little buds left.

Rj, the year after I move bulbs I'm always amazed at how many I Ieft behind. :blushing:
If you don't want them there, the good thing is that as long as you have room to dig, snowdrops are very easy to move in the green at this stage or later. Smiling

Last fall, I planted clumps of mixed tulips (pink and purple shades) in the new extension to my woodland bed. After I finished, I realised that I had accidentally planted at least one clump of orange tulips among the rest. D'Oh!
As I had no way of knowing which clump or clumps were the orange one(s), I have to wait until they bloom to be able to tell which ones should be moved - at least it will be soon now! Big Grin
You don't know if it will grow until you try!

Found them!! Big Grin

The combination looked better than I feared it would, so I have decided to be lazy and leave all of them in place! Whistling
