I'm from buffalo, NY, but I received this plant through the mail when I bought a tropical plant. Have no clue what it is. Leaves get to be near a foot in size.

Here is a better picture. These are not flower buds, they have been on the plant over a month.

I saw the other photo which is much more clear, thank you. May I ask from where this was purchased? Was it a seller in the USA? From your words I get the impression that this is a different plant from that which you had ordered, is that correct? If so, what plant were you expecting to receive? Thank You!
Sorry for so many questions but the more information the better the identification. Oh, and those may well be flower buds, some of which take quite a while to "bloom".

Somehow reminds me of the Catalpa or even the hybrid Chitalpa.

Di had order a Bougainvillea' and they sent me a leaf wrap in wet paper. I have had it a couple years, but this is the first time it produced anything. I cut one open, and it doesn't look like a flower.

Again please, from where was it purchased? Was it from a company or from an individual? A leaf wrapped in paper sounds like it was not from a company. Was it mailed from outside the US? Thank you. Thank You!

Rather than cutting open the buds, why not wait and let them take their natural course. Once the bloom occurs it will be a lot easier to identify the plant. Thumbs up

It was bought from a company called n the US. There are about 30 buds on it. I only just opened one. I had to break no it in the house after a long very hot summer we had. I am afraid it will not continue to do as well. I plan to put a sun light on it.
