Hello. I've recently gotten into gardening, and decided to plant some royal carpet and marigold.
The marigold didn't end up growing, but the royal carpet did well.
Only one problem, there's a stranger at the party. I've had no luck trying to figure out what it is, so I was hoping you guys could help.
It's on the left in the picture.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Welcome!

Whatever it is, it looks really happy.

Can you tell us your location? Knowing where the plant is located will help us to help you.

I like its looks better than than the intended plant!

I'm just curious: did you use garden soil for the pot, or some potting mix left over from another plant?

Or was that pot left outside for a time, so that wind, birds and squirrels had their chances to add the seed that made the plant? You might look around the neighborhood to see if anything similar is growing. If you can match up the stem and leaves, but the other plant has blooms, that may make the ID easier.

One more question. Do you have pet birds or do you feed the wild birds outside? The plant looks like White Millet which is usually part of bird seed mixes.

I live in Livingston, CA. It had a rough spot for a little while, but now it's growing at an extremely fast rate. I've never seen anything grow as fast as it.

I bought some potting soil for it, brand new. It was left outside for a little while, and the birds around where I live are extremely ferocious on plants and seeds, but I haven't seen any fauna that look remotely similar to it. We mostly just have some cactus and desert weeds around where I live, not too pretty.

The only birds I have are chickens, and it was in close proximity to their feed. I also had an assorted flower mix that also may have contaminated the pot at one point. That may be the cause of the foreign plant. This really is baffling to me.

Also, additionally, I've just realized it looks extremely similar to the corn silage less than 50 feet from my house. Could this be what it is? I'll have to take a look at the silage sprouts sometime.

Its not corn, if that's what you are thinking.

Livingston? I'm from Oakdale. Are you raising meat goats along with your chickens (because of your moniker)? Wait... I digress...

Back to the question... Its not one of the 'local' weeds. It would be great if it bloomed.

Yep, I've got around 20+ goats. Most of them are pet boers, though. I mostly just milk them from time to time.

Your plant is most likely a 'gift from the birds'.

Maybe a couple more pics? Not facing the window. Or even outside?
