It would be nice to have a way to comment on the daily inspirations - some of them really resonate with me and I'd like to give a high-5 for those. Or perhaps the background photo is especially beautiful. Also, wondering why sometimes the author is attributed and other times not? Today's quote I believe is from William Kent.

Sometimes we can't verify the source of a quote, so one isn't given. In this case, @ Jon will add it Green Grin!

I absolutely love the 'todays inspiration' part and it is the first thing I look for each time I log on.

Todays quote really struck a chord with me. Even though I spent a good many years not gardening after getting married, I plan to garden for the rest of my life.

I agree Thanks Dave Thumbs up
I was flattered the other day to see one of my garden pics used as a background. Just can't remember the quote that went with it. Sad

Today's Inspiration--National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day--on a picture of what appears to be apple pie has inspired me to ask:

What happened to the idea of a pretty (plant/garden-related) picture with some kind of an inspirational quote superimposed over it???
How does National Whatever Day qualify as an "Inspiration" ?

Seems there have been a lot of these national days in the daily inspiration lately, food-related, and I'm wondering what the goal is taking up real estate on the NGA homepage with images of food under the guise of inspiration...

I eat sometimes. I like food. I'm quite fond of pie. However, these images of food don't inspire me; they irritate me. I mean, I find it irritating to see frosted gingerbread cookies for two days, get a brief reprieve with rosemary Thank You! and now a whole lotta pie crust Grumbling
I don't come here to see pie crust! and I don't get it--am I supposed to be inspired to make a pie, eat a pie, grind the wheat, milk the cow, churn the butter, grow the apples, clean the oven, or what Rolling on the floor laughing
Personally, I'd rather see images of the plants used to make the food on a gardening website, if that's what you're going to keep doing with the "Today's Inspiration" thing-- I could easily tolerate images of ginger and strawberries and rhubarb, for example, even if the inspiration eludes me.

And yeah, I know, I can customize the darn thing right off my homepage if it bothers me that much. It started out so great with fantastic images, inspirational of their own accord, I'd sure regret missing out on more like that!

There are some "National Days" that are food related, and we chose to add them to the rotation in the "inspiration" section.
There are vegetable and fruit gardeners, and those are geared toward them.

Sometimes there will be more than one of those in a row, sometimes there will be days and days without one, and the "regular" inspirations.

Thanks for voicing your feedback! I tip my hat to you.

I don't have this on my personal home page, and wanted to go see what Dirt was talking about. How do I find the daily inspiration?

Deb, I think the only way to find it is to put in back on your homepage to see and then take it off again if you don't want to see...it doesn't 'live' anywhere else as far as I can tell

Trish, I grow fruits and vegetables, too!
and I think you missed my point--It's not that it has to be flowers--it is that I'd rather see the fruits and vegetables than the cookies and crust

I did see your point, and appreciate the feedback.

The photos as well as the actual content of the inspirations and days are in the same state of flux as the whole site as we continuously update/evolve/change/improve.

Some things are in the "it's perfect, leave it alone" category, some are in the "needs improvement, working on it", some "needs improvement, no time, or "needs improvement, no ideas", and some are "just get it up and worry about it later" category.

That's just how we work. Whistling We do, of course, expect feedback when others dislike something in any of the categories that isn't perfect. Big Grin

I find the National Days as interesting and inspiring as some of the quotes. Take today's for example Herbs and Spices Day. Seeing this might inspire someone to look into growing there own herbs and spices. Inspirations can come from many different places and things, not just great quotes.
