@ Dave, After playing with all the options for a long time, I now have my home page the way I like it, but there are many empty boxes on the home customizing page that I don't know how to get rid of, and I don'r know how they got there.
Is there a way to delete those empty boxes so it looks neater?
Thank you for your help. Smiling

>> empty boxes on the home customizing page

I don't think having empty boxes in the home customizing page really hurts anything.

The only way I know to get rid of those is to use the "clear everything" button, then re-create the populated boxes.

But first take a screenshot of your home customizing page so you'll remember the names of each thing and exactly where you wanted it

Thank you Dave and Rick.
Yes it is the customizing page that has all those empty boxes, I am afraid to start over for fear of messing it up.
It took me a long time to get to this point, I guess i will just leave it alone, the boxes don't hurt anything, they just make it look cluttered. Smiling

Josephine, if it helps at all, I have all kinds of empty boxes on my customizing page too... the only time you'll see them is if you go back to change the arrangement. Smiling

I felt the same way for a few days, then bit the bullet and it tu5ned out to be easy. When I couldn't remember the name of something I wanted, I just tried a few things until I found it.

Mainly, at one point I decided to cram as much as I could into each box instead of having a separate row for each ... ummm ... row.

Checking back, I see I DO still have one empty row. Start over again? No, I agree with you: once I have what I want, why keep fiddling?

Had to go look at mine to see how it compares to Rick's home page... as you can see, all I ever did was take things out of the default setup and move some back to rows that had the number of columns that I liked; all the other boxes are still there, but empty...

Yes, that is the way mine are. I even tried starting over but the boxes didn't disappear.
Oh well, I guess it doesn't hurt if I don't look at it. Smiling

*Blush* I've forgotten how to do the screen shot but for awhile my customizing page was a huge mess with lots of empty boxes all over the page! It was driving me crazy even though I knew no one could see it and I finally cleared everything and started over. It's now very neat looking with only two Row's with 3 columns in each of those two rows! Green Grin!

Josephine, when I saw that stuffing multiple "items" all into the same "box" in the "Customizing page" eliminated white space within each "row" on the home page, I had to go all the way towards "put everything into one box".

I think my home page used to have variable white-space gaps when something in one column was longer than the other column in that same row. I eliminated the white spaces by putting everything into just one row.

Maybe I'm missing out on something that way, but as long as I don't know what it is I'm missing, I'm a happy camper!

and for anyone who, like Lin, just can't stand the thought of all those empty boxes being there (even though they don't affect anything), I believe the only way to get rid of them is to use the "clear your dashboard and start over" option; then you can add boxes in the rows and columns that you want (or just put it all in one box like Rick did!) I don't know what came over me.
For once, the simple solution seemed more attractive than fidgety solutions.
