Hmmmm, I thought I posted this a short while ago but I'm not seeing it--please forgive if this ends up being a duplicate.

I have a couple of questions about this contest but I can't see how to post them on the contest page. Where can I ask these questions?

TIA,

Joanna

Thanks! Oops, got it!

So there are two categories, one being wildlife and the other misc. I have some bee pictures that I'd like to enter--where would they go?

Also, same question regarding birds?

And the last question is, how can we view the entered pictures?

Thanks!

I would put both of them under wildlife. The misc category is for puppies and cats Green Grin! (and other).

You'll be able to view all the entries when voting begins.

Oh no, PLEASE no puppies or cats...or cute little kids. A bit disappointed that the specific flower categories are much the same (identical?) to last year. Was hoping for some new spotlights - there actually is life beyond daylillies... (kidding of course)

The "Other" category is also for fungi and plant-like things that aren't actually plants. And I guess you could enter pets and stuff but that's not really being encouraged.

As for the specific flower categories... I didn't want to remove any of them, but I can't add too many either. We already have 17 categories and even that seems like a lot.

I wasn't thinking of adding more categories, just mixing it up a bit more. Perhaps next year.

I think it's really wonderful that fungi photos and similar can be entered this year Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Sometimes when you photograph very small things, you need to use focus stacking techniques to extend depth of field. I know I asked this before, but the answer was a bit unclear... I wonder if focus stacked images are allowed? That is combining several images with different point of focus to one single image with extended depth of field.

I also was wondering if panoramic stitching of images are allowed or not?

I don't see techniques like HDR or photo stacking to be cheating or unfair manipulation and I see no reason to disqualify panoramic stitching, either.

I don't want to get disqualified so I'll ask first.
For the category "Wildlife and Plants" I (maybe wrongly) assumed there would have to be a plant in the photo along with any type of wildlife. So could we enter a photo of just a bee (for example) or would the bee have to be on a plant? Thank You!

I would think that the bee would have to be on a plant to qualify for the "Wildlife and Plants" category. Your photo probably would be more appropriate in the "Miscellaneous" category.

Okay - I must have my home page set up wrong, but I can't find the link to the photo contest anywhere. Last week it was on the home page. Where did it go?

But my newsletter isn't linked to the home page. When I search the site for photo contest it doesn't even come up (but 2014 & 2015 do). How can people know to submit photos or pick winners, if it is so very very hard to find. Last year it was always on the home page.

You're right, Leslie. I just looked for it with a search, and it didn't come up. @DAVE should be able to tell us how to find it. I agree it needs to be visible to get the amount of entries it's gotten in the past.

Thanks, Dave. I do see that now, but people who aren't thinking photo contest might never click to see it.
