Sue, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful Lily and Daphne. It truly is wrenching to loose them. They are never just chickens to those of us that love them. Group hug
We had Chicker (Sex Link rooster) and Mary Hen (black Chochin bantam hen) to name but a few of the special chickens in our lives.

I'm also sad for your loss, Sue. I had chickens years ago, and loved them, and called them by name. We lost most of them to a weasel that managed to get into their very secure coop. It didn't kill any of them, but maimed them all, and we had to put them down. They did get buried, and mourned. Pets are members of our family.

A weasel, wow, don't think we have any here, although I am not sure.

I think weasels are nearly everywhere except Antarctica and Australia. You even have your own California weasel!

Thanks Karen, they are cute, just not near the coop. I do now remember a neighbor saying he saw one a few years back in the green belt by our house.

I am so sorry and sad over Daphne and Lily. Sad for you too Sue. Crying Crying Crying Crying
It doesn't matter that they were chickens, they were part of your family and you loved them. Group hug Group hug
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others.
