Me and my Musa basjoo banana and my Hairy Balls :- ) (Giant Swan milkweed - Gomphocarpus physocarpus- Balloon Plant Milkweed on November 11, 2016 NW Missouri Zone 5B

Will be chopping the banana sometime in the next few days. Gonna get nailed tonight with temps.

I will also pot up the Giant Swan MW and take cuttings. Seeds have been popping for a week or so. The plant is still blooming.

That is a huge milkweed. You must have had some very happy butterflies in your neighborhood.

They loved it for nectaring (saw no cat activity) - 3 of em and in the same bed ~ 20 Tropical MW. On the Tropical I had a lot of cat activity and several chrysalis.

I chopped the Musa basjoo down today. Shrug! Grumbling

And the Giant Swan milkweed. I put a lot of cuttings in water and potted up the 3 plants. I found it interesting that the roots of the Giant Swan (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) are the smallest of any milkweed I have ever transplanted (~ 10 species) other than Common (Asclepias syriaca). They are even smaller than Swan MW (Gomphocarpus fruiticosus) which has a huge root system by comparison.
