This year instead of trying to lug my four potted Brugs into one of the greenhouses I'm going to see how wrapping them in burlap does. I've already pruned them down to a much smaller size and filled in with a good amount of mulch. Now I'm trying to figure out how much burlap I may need. The pots themselves are 20" wide and 16" high. I can get this burlap - http://www.michaels.com/60-inc... by the yard so with the size of the pots and tucking the burlap under the pots and then bringing it up onto the stems of the plant I'm wondering if 1yd per plant would be enough?

I think you would do a lot better by simply planting them.
At my house.... I can plant the cuttings in the garden, and not do anything else.... Have new plants in the spring! Also.... Piling the cast-off tops in the woods.... Often results in new plants....

I'd be very surprised if wrapping in burlap would keep the tops alive.... But shows you're thinking....

So.... How far did you cut these Brugs back?
Below or above the y?

They will get planted this spring. I don't know if it would be such a good idea right now to do it. I cut them above the 'Y' although one had the 'Y' way down at the bottom it got chopped back but not all the way down. One doesn't really have a 'Y' it just grows straight up like a tree trunk.
