Hello!

I'm working on identifying some wetland plants at school from our local wetland. The stem of this reminds me of pokeweed, but the flowers are different. Any idea on what it could potentially be, or the family from which it is from? Thanks!

Not seeing it in it's normal state, I'm pretty much torn between Amaranth or Rumex.

Pictures out in the field are far superior to plant pieces removed from the natural setting.

I agree with Stone

Rumex and Amaranth are both found in wetland situations. You have brought back the seed stalk of one of them. Seeing the rest of the plant with help greatly.

It looks nothing like Pokeweed. It does look like Rumex. Seeing photos of the living plant would be helpful. Can you get together with whomever is cutting the plants to request photos?
