I give and receive a lot of thumbs up on the forums in which I participate. While the compliments are nice and very appreciated they are consuming a lot of space. How do I get rid of them of delete/stop the option that lets me receive these?

I DO NOT want to stop my Tree Mail notifications. I only want to stop the thumbs up.

Thank you.

I'm not understanding your question. It is not possible to prevent people from giving you thumbs ups.

But there's no harm in getting them, as far as I can see. You do not get notified by email or any other way, except for a one-time system message that disappears as soon as you click on the bell icon.

I don't understand the question either. Where and how do they consume a lot of space?
This is my screen capture of my Home page, I currently have 3 new system messages, I click on that blue box or the red bell upper right. Come back to home page, it's gone.

To clarify,
Top right corner there is an envelope for Tree Mail and a bell. The bell turns red and says, "You have one new system message." I click on that line and it opens and shows me a box that says, "Whatever/Whoever gave you a Thumbs Up for post # whatever." or "You were mentioned in post #whatever".

I appreciate the acknowledgements. Very nice of all those I interact with but How do I 'delete' these or get rid of them. As it is I have 36 of them. They need to go.

Is there a way to turn that bell 'off' so to speak and stop this activity entirely?

Thanks for the help.

Once you click on the bell and it opens the pop-up, it will mark those system messages as read. As far as I am aware, you can't clear the list of system messages (if you click on "View past system messages"). They record more than just thumbs-up; for example, any proposed changes to the database that are accepted will be listed there as well.

Simple.
Click on the red bell. Then click on the little X in the upper right corner.
When you click on the bell again the message are magically gone!

I think the last two posts mean "you can close the list of Notifications once you've opened it up".

I think Agavegirl1 was asking how to clear that list of all acknowledged Notifications, or stop receiving notifications of thumbs altogether.

I don't think either of those can be done at this time.
