Dear All,

This is my first post and seeking help on a privacy tree question. We live in Princeton area in New Jersey and want to plan privacy trees in our back yard along the fence.

Is it too late in season to plant Green Giants Or Leylad Cypress? Are they good for our area.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

As long as the ground has not yet frozen you can plant the Green Giant. Make sure to water them adequately before the very cold weather. You may need to protect the plants from winter burn Shrug! and allow enough spacing from the fence line so they don't grow into your neighbor's yard.

The Leyland Cypress can get very big and wide very fast; not sure I would advice using those unless you have a huge property.

What we have discovered here in Reno is that the Leyland Cypress grow quickly but don't do well in wind prone areas (they burn). If it's windy in your area, go with the Arborvitae (Green Giant).

Up here in northern NJ the Green Giant seem to be hardier.
