Ask a Question forum: Cutting back a large plumeria

I have a potted plumeria that has gotten too big. I need to cut it back. If I cut branches, will it "fork" and grow two branches?

I need to do this when it is dormant, correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome! jrp123jrp

Ideally you should cut your plumeria when it is starting to grow again after dormancy, in early spring.
If you cut it, it will branch from the old leaf scars, this is not always a perfect fork.
