This was taken in the spring of the Southern hemisphere in New Zealand. Any idea why the leaves turned red?

UnusualπŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•Not knowing your weather. Usually leaves turn redish, evenly, from hot afternoon sun.
Im not sure if prolonged feeezing might possibly do that. It appears those tips fall off !!!! Im i right ?
Hopefully some one knows.
