|Growing my dahlias in containers for the past 5-6 years, I typically wait until there is a frost than cut back the stalks and retire the containers to the basement with just an occasional amount of moisture.
Four days ago with had a thunder storm with hail followed by 26 degree temps during the night, finally got out to cut the stalks down, picking up the plants I'm thinking the feel pretty solid, probably have an ice ball in the containers! I did take them to the basement, do not have a lot of confidence about their survival next year!
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

|Good luck. Geof/Mandolls posts his tubers for sale and it's an excellent buy. I'm sure he'll post a link when he's dug them.
Mine are in the shed. I hope they're warm enough.
