My neighbor buys tons of potted plants for his front yard, many are huge or expensive. After a month or two he tosses them all away and changes up the plants. I think it's a waste of money to spend so much just to waste them by throwing them out, give them away or don't buy so much save them for others who want to keep them. Some of these are 5 foot palms, hibiscus, cana lily, cactus, all really nice and pricey and can grow indoors and some are perennials yet they end up thrown away :/

Usually I don't spend money to buy potted plants. I wait for people to toss plants and pots in the trash - such as your neighbor. Thumbs up Kind of wish I lived closer. Whistling

Have you taken time to talk with your neighbor to learn his reasoning? He may have a good story to tell. Shrug!

Where we live in AZ the city has flower beds on all of the street corners. The beds are changed every 3 months and they toss out the flowers. It's horrible to see geraniums, impatiens, sweet potato plants, marigolds, petunias, etc just tossed out.

Maybe he'd give them to you if you asked? It is a shame to do that.

I'm full already or I would of asked for some or raided the trash. I never asked him why figured it might start a disagreement. @greene @plantmanager

Keith, I once had a friend who did that, both indoors and out. I did ask her why, especially since she often would put the plants in inappropriate places and they would die within a month. She said that she used to buy cut flowers but they never lasted very long and were messy. The plants lasted longer and gave her more pleasure. Even though I didn't like to see her letting plants die and then throwing them away, I did understand her reasoning. I know, I know, why wouldn't she just buy plants and put them in places where they would thrive? No green thumb, but lots of greenbacks. Green Grin!
