There should be a sticky on this subject. Lol I was looking on the seed exchange on NALS. Came across something saying BA.

I know what BH, OP, BB, and such mean. Can't figure out what BA means. There was another on there I couldn't figure out

It would be nice to have somewhere for this, although I suspect many of these terms are not limited to liliums.

I know what OP (open-pollinated) and PP (protected pollination) are, but don't recognise the other acronyms you mention.

If BA was part of the cross description it likely is the initials of the source of parent origin. Beth Arthur? Not sure I am recalling correctly...

I'll be shipping my seed donation tomorrow. I chose what I think are six of my better crosses. For those who don't know who Sims is, he sold seed from his own crosses up till around 2006. He is married to the NALS Executive Secretary. I'm also providing 2n and 4n trumpet crosses involving his material. Couldn't help including my cross for pink edged yellow trumpets involving Tropical Isle...

I can't wait to see the new seed list availability. Lol I accidently did a double order of seed. I tried to order on my tablet. Didn't think it went through. Did it on my phone. It did go through. Check my email and they both went through. Oops. Anyone need some extra seed when i get them?

Dave, just to be clear, if I listed seed derived from an unnamed 'pink' hybrid of Robert Griesbach's, I would list it as RG pink. Smiling

Back in the day when we had hard copies of the seed list the donors could add a foot note at the end of each division list and explain anything they wanted to about their crosses. I miss that!

I'm just here enjoying seed talk. Here I call 'Robert Griesbach' the lily I use in crosses RG for short and any Griesbach seed is GR ex. GR tetra pink x similar.

Dave those are usually just people's initials. I believe BA is Bob Allen. Who he is and his specialties, I couldn't tell you.

David,

BA is the abbreviation for Beth Arthur. Both Joe and I had corresponded with Beth for a number of years. She is a wonderfully kind lady that bred a number of nice cultivars and shared pollen & seed. Joe was more successful with the cultivars than I. Beth is from Australia but sadly no longer grows lilies due to slowing down due to her advanced age.

Thanks for the clarification, Patrick. The history for the seed lot is nice to have and understand.

So I was right on the BA abbreviation. Who is BJ? It doesn't matter a lot to me because I would succumb to the purple x purple anyway.

Yup - you were spot on for BA - great guess. Not sure on the BJ but it would be someone's initials.

Could be Bob Jonckheere - he used to breed pink/purple trumpets.

In 2011 he donated a seed lot NALS: 61-125 (Goldkranz x Midnight sdlg) dark pink sdlg x dark trumpet sdlg (dark trumpet x dark trumpet)

This would be my best guess - a purple trumpet from Bob's breeding - not necessarily this exact lot.
