My daughter bit into a whole strawberry tonight. She noticed that the inside was dark rather thank red, so she showed me. I cut it open and alarmingly found small blackish-brown pellets inside. The outside of the strawberry seemed perfectly fine. Can anyone help me identify what this might be? I've attached a photo of what I found. Thank you!

Welcome! It looks like there was a pest in there, probably a caterpillar. The pellets would be its poop. Actually on closer look the caterpillar is still there, cut in half between the two halves of the strawberry - it's green.
