We live in Panama City, FL and have one grapefruit and one orange tree. Lately I've noticed some of the fruit is turning brown. Any idea of what causes this, and if it's safe to eat?

Yes, it's fine to eat. Just not as "perfect" as the heavily sprayed citrus you would buy in the store.

There is a mite that makes that sort of blemish on the skin of citrus but it does no harm to either the plant or the fruit. You are so lucky to be still harvesting nice fruit from your citrus trees.
