I teach a couple of classes on house plants. Since this is Wisconsin which can get some ridiculous cold and wind, I am often asked what to do about plants sitting in the windowsills. Simple solution: small quiet fans circulating air. Depending on the outdoor temps, I have 3 fans I turn on at different temps in different parts of the house. Works. Gene

I have some bubble wrap propped between some plants and the sunny window in the basement- figure it at least doesn't touch the frosty glass.

But the bubble wrap is cutting down on the light. Use fans if needed. Gene

Note: with a fan blowing on them most plants will need to be watered more often. Gene

Our ceiling fan is always on low when the heat is on. Without that, we would never feel the heat way up at the top of the room.
