This was given to me about 7 years ago when I lived in NJ. I kept in in the house and a for a few years I would move it outside in the summer. The leaves fall off in the fall and grow back in the spring. I have tried to find out what it is, but have had no luck. The trunk is covered with sharp barbs. I moved to florida this summer and thought the leaves would stay on throughout the year, but they fell off in early november. I would like to know what it is so I can take better care of it. Thank you.

I think you have a beautiful Pachypodium rutenbergianum. They do lose their leaves at the first cold snap.

Mystery solved. Thank you very much for the information. Now I know what I have. I did get one flower this summer which was my first. I moved here in mid july and the florida sun agrees with it. I do want to repot it, as I have done once before. I don't remember what time of year I did it, but now I can research and find out the best time.

Thanks Again.

Pachypodium (Pachypodium rutenbergianum) is such a neat looking plant but oh my, those thorns!!
