I live in Tennessee and it's December. It's not cold today but will be soon. My plant has brown dying leaves. The only time this plant looked good was the first few weeks I had it. The area has just had mulch added to it, so it is well protected, (I think?) How can I treat this plant, and especially this time of year? These are pictures I took this summer...they look worse now!

It looks like your Pieris is getting sunburned. If you look at your photos, the exposed leaves are the ones affected. The inner leaves look fine.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
