I was randomly browsing Google Maps and I found a neat summer picture of my home. This was a while ago, right when I first moved in. As you can see there are loooots of trees all around me on every side but the south side (looking at my house from the south).

The place where that tiny little Home Depot bed is, will be a 4' by 14' zinnia bed next spring.

But I'm still deciding what to do with the stump area. It gets blazing sun for the first part of the day, then heavy shade for the second part. I want to section it off and build some kind of bed (probably from stones or bricks) but I really don't have many ideas about what to put there (flowers, vegetables, herbs) yet. Any ideas?

Also, you can barely make this out but nearer my porch where it is full shade all the time, the hostas and ferns barely grow. It's THAT dark during the summer. My roof is literally covered in moss. But out toward the front of my yard (where the beds are/will be) it's 7-8 hours of sun per day.
Keep going!
