Yep, I'm running around doing just that. They are calling for night time temps in the teens through Tuesday. Blinking We were wearing tee shirts a few days ago with night temps between 55 and 60, and now this. I've got to mulch perennials recently planted very well. My succulents had been staying out under cover, but I'll have to bring them in. Grumbling

I agree with Danita. Stay warm and safe everyone!

I had my first Daffodil blooms of the year, they are appreciated especially at this time of year when there is not much other color in the garden.

Aww, cute "bark stripper," Stone! His coat really camouflages well in those logs. Fun frost flower and fungus photos, too. Big Grin

Seedfork, looks like spring is definitely headed your way. So many lovelies, especially your Magnolia. Lovey dubby

No pics, but the Forsythia and white Spirea are blooming in the neighbors yard. I also saw (well, heard, then saw Hilarious! ) a huge flock of Sandhill Cranes flying northward a couple of days ago.

I didn't have room to pot-up all of the Billbergias I had put in the ground for summer vacation. The ones still in the ground looked horrible after the 2 nights in the 20's last month but a couple are alive enough to bloom!

Flowers are coming to life, I actually saw a swallowtail butterfly with half his tail gone nectaring on this daffodil. The daff is part of a double mix, I believe it's Cheerfulness.

Yes, unless the root is killed or excavated, it will grow back. We have some in our mature trees along the property line. It doesn't bother me & I don't bother it.

What I was doing last year:
Thumb of 2017-02-17/stone/07a8a4

Can't dig it out if it ain't cut down....

Not sure that you realize how close this stuff is to the house, gotta do a certain amount of fire prevention...

Once cut down, it doesn't matter that it grows back, it's a lot easier to maintain it after the first cutting.... This stuff has been growing since the tract was timbered... Before I got it....

Don't get any straight growing trees with this stuff pulling them down...

I'm not in a house surrounded by an acre or two of lawn... I had a free house ( basically a tar paper shack) dropped off in a thicket... And... I'm doing as well as I can.

Blooms made possible by having a tiny shed that needed a little heat for a total of less than a dozen nights, this year anyway, and of course, so far. Not past the point of danger yet where I am until we get comfortably into April.

Anyway, out of "greenhouse" for now...

Basket plant (Callisia fragrans.) Not the most attractive plant but the smell of the very long-lasting blooms is divine!

A bit farther back.
