Happy New Year! The rose 'New Year' was our thumbnail photo for January 2016, so this time I'm using 'New Dawn' for the thumbnail.

It's the Day of New Beginnings. The Rose of the Day is Blastoff, one of my favorite Ralph Moore floribundas.

It's National Cream Puff Day. The Rose of the Day is Cream Abundance, a wonderful Harkness floribunda that's always loaded with blooms.

Zuzu can you tell me the difference between Pompon Flower Circus and Earth Angel?
Thanks in advance.

Margie, I asked the same question in this forum back in September. I'm hoping there will be no difference. I love my Pompon Flower Circus and it isn't available in commerce anymore, so I bought Earth Angel this year. Someone on GardenWeb said Earth Angel has more pink in the blooms, but they are the same shape as the Pompon blooms.

Today we celebrate the Festival of Sleep. The Rose of the Day is Sleeping Beauty, more commonly known as Dornroschen.

Thank you for your response Zuzu. It is my understanding that Earth Angel is suppose to have a very strong fragrance and Pompon Veranda a mild fragrance.

Much better than the answer I was coming up with which was nose/nasal expert. Hilarious!

Dear Rose-buddies
A belated Happy New Year to all of you!!! I hope 2017 turns out to be a great rose year for all and that your wishes come to pass, rose-wise and otherwise, but most of all I wish you health and happiness!!!

Our short vacation in South Africa is a thing of the past. We had a great time visiting my family and particularly enjoyed the warmer temps. I dragged the whole family along on a visit to Ludwig's in Pretoria which was a real treat for me even though it was really hot - 36C, but they spent most of the time in the restaurant - cold drink in hand Hilarious!

It looks as though the winter arrived while we were away! We arrived home yesterday to find everything covered in snow which is actually great because the snow cover will help protect the roses against the predicted -12C for tonight.

I still have to have a look at the pics I took and will post a couple if they are worthwhile!

Today is Bean Day. The Rose of the Day is Coffee Bean.

It's also Cuddle Up Day, and we just happen to have photos of that rose too.

Looking forward to those photos Sharlene! Glad you're back! And so envious of your time in the warm sun, I could sure use a dose of warm sunshine right now- its 10F and overcast here with some snow on the ground.

That Cuddle Up is a lovely blend of colors, and she is very appropriate for me today. Our temperatures are falling throughout the day with sleet possible - 34 at the moment.
