Mine bloomed pretty early last year, and stayed in bloom all summer. So far nothing here, but it hasn't hit 70 in weeks, and barely have any sun...it might peek through for a few minutes, then clouds take over. This week we're getting some sun, but low temps. Just can't win.

Thumbs up As long as you are not floating away......... We see such devastating footage of California on the news, it is good to know you folks on the sunset coast are OK.

I echo that!

Around here the Sarcoglottis sceptrodes are spiking!
This year I am growing them much shadier and wetter than previously. The two larger cultivars are sitting most of the time in a bit of water still in that tray! They seem to do better this year for me this way. The smaller one also never dries out!

Those are looking really good, Ursula. None of mine are in spike but they are all getting there. Those little tufted bud-line projections are forming, so the inflo. won't be far off. Mine normally bloom in mid-spring and into mid-summer.

Went on a "bud hunt" in prep for bringing in all bloomers and those in bud, for tonight and tomorrow night at least. Delighted to discover four nice fat spikes on my Iwan 'Apple Blossom' (yes, old tag).
Thumb of 2017-03-14/dyzzypyxxy/cc4c87

Also, two spikes starting to fade on Den. aggregatum but can you see the cascade of buds below to the left of the mount? Think I'll be seeing lots more little yellow "primroses" in the next week!

Love your aggregatum.. Elaine.. I wish mine would do something ( besides taking up real estate!).
The ONE upside to dragging plants in for cold snaps is that you give one or two plants at a time a through looking over... here's what I found this afternoon

Was workin in the yard today... (mostly raking leaves since March is "fall" here in Sarasota! Hilarious! )...and found some treasures!

Enc. alata is getting taller by the day!

Also a first timer for me...the inflos just keep getting taller and taller (didn't catch the name this time, sorry)

Thumb of 2017-03-24/SarasotaPatty/d8bffd

I was SO excited about this den. amethystoglossum! Recently I moved it into more light and it's rewarding me already! Another first-timer in my yard!

Thumb of 2017-03-24/SarasotaPatty/822831

And this just cracked me up...I got this from Kawamoto in the fall (it's a enc. profusa) and the racoons have been un-potting it for weeks :grumbling:
I've had it sitting on the porch waiting until I could re-pot for the 20th time when I noticed the inflo on it! I still can't believe it! Here we all worry about messing with them when they're in bud or bloom and this thing has been getting re-potted on a weekly basis and is sitting sans pot or medium at the moment and look, it has a spike! Hilarious!
