Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but there is a degree of anticipation...
When I repotted and divided the orchids I was given last year, I potted up the backbulbs to see if I could "strike" them and grow new plants. It has been exciting over the past few weeks to find these shoots appearing, especially as I understand backbulbs generally take around 6 months to send up new growths
Cym. Alexanderi - potted up 15th October 2016
Cym. Ceres - potted up 15th October 2016
Cym. lowianum - the first new shoot has emerged in the last day or two; repotted 7th November 2016
NOID Cym. B - not sure exactly when this was repotted (probably September-ish, as it had no flower spike), but the first shoot appeared around the 26th of December, so this is just under 3 weeks' growth. Hopefully the parent plant will flower this winter and I'll be able to identify them.
NOID Cym. C - another with no flower spike, probably repotted around September-October; first shoot probably appeared around the 24th of December. Unfortunately lost track of which plant these came from, so these really are complete unknowns!
There are several more pots of NOID backbulbs that I am keenly awaiting to see if they will send up shoots or not.
