it was a nice warm sunny day of 65 or so, and i thought i'd better get some weeding done before the door opens to 3 back-to-back rain storms that are coming our way. the storm on thursday is supposed to dump 2-4" of rain in one day. (which is a significant amount for us, tho' not when i lived in n. calif.). then the next two are on friday and sunday.

here's a photo i shot of autumn explosion today...the bedraggled pic i took the other day of the first flower shriveled up in two days and was gone. these two opened this a.m. and i'll have a chance to enjoy them for at least another day.

thank you liz and neal. i measured the stalk which stands 22", & the blossoms measure 6"x7". (the larger measurement the width)

'autumn explosion' ( tasco 2013). rebloomer

leslie mentioned the health of the plant, where pictures can be deceiving....it's the same plant that had surgery for rot a few days ago. so fingers crossed Crossing Fingers! that all will be fine.

i am thrilled to have something blooming in january.

love the color, too celia, but i cannot take credit for that Hilarious! .

We have our first bloom of 2017.
It took a little bit of a beating from the rain last night.

Double Overtime

We also have a stalk on Solstice.
It probably won't open for at least a week.

Awesome, Carl! Hurray! I planted Double Overtime last fall and it looks like it will be vigorous. It sat on a tray a few weeks before I got it planted, then it bloomed about 6 weeks later with a branched stalk and about 7 buds. Now its packed with increases!

'pinkness' opened her lovely petals this a.m. after 2 1/2 weeks of blustery cold and rain. it's been sunny and nice, but yesterday was sunny and blustery. for a maiden bloom it/she stands 22" tall and blossoms 5x6". wider than long.

. (byers 1989 re)

happy is the heart that has seen five maiden blooms, so far Thumbs up .
