Mine get frozen by ice storms and the such in March, so this is waaaaayyyy too early. I do envy your long spring flowering season in California!

It sure felt like spring here yesterday. Crocuses and winter aconites are blooming and I saw the first open bloom on a Siberian squill. Honey bees were buzzing around!

Those grow wild in my backyard. Never knew that was what they were called. Thanks Neal!

They do naturalize nicely, I love seeing them scattered through lawns and woods! Are they blooming in your area?

I should be seeing Iris reticulata, but most I planted have dwindled. They were more modern hybrids and I want to replace them with the species- when I grew them in the past they returned and increased well.

Not seen any in bloom yet. We are suppose to be in the 70's the next couple of days with some possibility of much needed rain. That should get things popping.

Rick Tasco's SDB Blue Oasis opened during the last rain. One opened and closed before we even saw it. The second bud opened but by the time we noticed it the slugs had found it. It has another bud. Hopefully I will bet a better photo.

I'm glad I don't seem to have a lot of issues with slugs, I guess the chickens keep them under control. Rolling on the floor laughing

Well, Solstice finally opened. I noticed the stalk on the 21 of Jan.
I thought it would be open in a week. It's been a long week.
