Hi everyone!

I am in Zone 6 and I am thinking about building a greenhouse this spring so I can grow some tropical plants year round. I want to make the greenhouse so it can be sturdy enough to stand up to my winters up here in North Idaho. I want to make it like Zone 9 or 10 in there year round so I can grow plants like Nepenthes Miranda, Theobroma Cacao, Banana, Pineapple, Citrus, and other tropical plants. I have many questions concerning greenhouses.

How do I keep humidity and heat at an optimum level for plants year round in the greenhouse?

What materials should I build the greenhouse out of?

Any advice on how to build it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Jared

I have what seems to be a Sunny brand greenhouse, but I haven't used it for 3 years, lost the instructions, and not sure how to put it together again. I'm sure I kept all the pieces together, and I THINK I'm doing ok, but it would sure help to have help....
Here's what it should look like, and here are the parts I have
Thumb of 2017-05-04/Tallulah_B/fd18a7
mine is actually 2 shelves deep front to back, not one as this one shows-

Thumb of 2017-05-04/Tallulah_B/7c4c21
2 straight 32 1/2"
2 elbows - one 3 way and one 4 way
24 joiners
32 straight 27 1/2"
32 straight 16 3/4
6 bent 31 3/4 straight length, to the bend

@tallulah_B I was trying help you and to locate your brand of greenhouse instructions online but I can't seem to find Sunny Brand. If you contact the manufacturer, I am sure you can get replacement instructions. Or again, look online. The only one I could in is for Outsunny brand Is that the one?

Yes, Outsunny is the one, and I don't know where we bought it - about 5 years ago.
Finally figured out how to build it, and missing ONE elbow. Need an elbow for each end, and the middle.
There are 6 shelves, so it's bigger than the one I showed. Likely got it at WalMart. Thumbs up

Susan, if that's a single bend elbow you might be able to fabricate one from electrical conduit. Do you have an electrician near by?

My DH cut some dowel, to make up for the distance needed, and put the small pieces in the 3 bars, then used Gorilla Tape to join them - good deal! He's not only handy, but he makes "do" with what we have........... Thumbs up Lovey dubby
The greenhouse is up, with the cover, and functional - I love it! Hurray!

Absolutely - btw - almost lost the greenhouse last night, in a Major windstorm. My DH had to tie it down or it would have blown over. There are places to use tent pegs to hold it down, but we don't have any....... or I don't think we do Rolling on the floor laughing We'll have to go into the shed and find some, maybe...... Oh, dear! We sideways habe tent stakes here. I use then to secure raccoon traps. They are like 4/$1 @camping places. If you were here, I'd give you some. But thenI guess it's too late anyway? Glad hubby saved your greenhouse. Thumbs up

I have some aluminum trough spikes, so will use them. I'm also going to move the greenhouse into my garden. On the SW corner of our garden we have 3 very large spruce trees on the south side, and a fence on the west side. It will be protected from the wind
TBH, I have more garden (this year anyway) than I have plants for, I think Hilarious! Who'da thought, eh? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
