Can this be grown as a houseplant? I live in zone 5 and I know it would never survive in my yard. Thanks

It would be a real challenge. I am in Z 5B and have lots of tropicals that go back out in May and then come in during ~ Mid November. The challenge then is to keep them alive over winter. One of the biggest challenges is humidity levels in winter suck indoors.

Bear in mind it is a tree hardy only to Z 7.

Has a lot of good info, but I think his statement that it is hardy to Boston is bogus. Whistling
