Heres another Bunch that bloomed this year none of them seemed to really be standouts as far as new patterns like last years seedlings but some of these were good plants and had pretty good colors and it was nice to see them bloom after waiting for years Smiling 12-15 was a shock I came out in the rain and found it had opened at night it had green streaks in the standards and turquoise in the falls Blinking something I had not seen before but.. it had 7 flowers open on this one and on each one the turquoise veins were less visible still there but less so probably more of a fluke than anything and could be weather related here but either way it was fun to find something different and I saved it thinking maybe Crossing Fingers! it will do it again in the spring.

12 - 15 Has really interesting colors for sure. You will have to try to concentrate those colors more. I've never seen them in an iris. How exciting. Smiling

A TB iris with a turquoise influence is definitely a new color. That is very exciting to see. All of them are beauties but I like that one the best. It has ruffles and a nice contrasting beard too.

I had to go back and look at it again, amazing how it looks like the stem has been cut and put in water with food coloring the way the pigment is concentrated at the edges! (but obviously hasn't been) In the first photo of it I can see there is a touch of that pigment in the falls too, mostly visible on the under side.

Thanks everybody it was a definitely a pleasant surprise although I wish every flower had the pattern I would have felt more confident in it.. I lost the green veins in the standards but kept the turquoise flecks in the falls on all of them hopefully next year ill get to see it again.. I had one in 2015 that opened that had similar color in the falls but not as prevalent but it did not survive the move .

Tom.. If it does the same-thing next year we will work it very cool to see those colors but I had so many wierd things going on this year in the field Shrug!

Bonnie.. Thank you it was fun !!

Deb.. Wow Thank You !! It had everything but a branch nodding so very hard to get a perfect one but once again it may change next year..

Neal.. If only we could Tye Dye them the way we wanted them to look nodding now that would be interesting for sure.. My favorite part of the season is coming out in the morning or after work, walking the rows and finding something new and different like that blooming.. Hope there is many more surprises to come this spring

A member one of the hardy plant clubs here said new varieties of Gladiolus are created by cutting the corm from different flowers and connecting them together to see if it took. It would be neat if it were that way with Iris too.

This is the last of my own seedlings that bloomed both of these crosses produced some real beauties the previous year but this crop that bloomed had a lot of problems and was not as impressive most had 2 flowers and bloomed down in the foliage because they were hit with whatever went through my garden this spring so about the only thing I know for sure is the color they may look completly different next year. I'm certainly hoping so..

My Favorite of the bunch is the white one although I only got to see 1 flower it was loaded with lace and ruffles Smiling and it grew well..

13-49 (the ruffled white) is fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen an iris with that many ruffles. Can't wait to see more pictures of it in the spring. Lovey dubby
Love the 13-50 seedlings too! #3 and #6 can come to visit me any time... nodding

Thank you, Brad. I've been enjoying having a look at your seedlings and reading your thoughts and goals with them very much. Some are very unique and wonderful!!! For those that may be similar to existing cultivars, I'm hoping that they excel in other aspects such as hardiness and disease resistance. That would make them valuable and unique in their own way Thumbs up
