On a cold night I was doing some surfing (on the web) and ran across this interesting site. I read quite a few of the articles and found them extremely interesting. There are a lot of things about compost, and compost tea. An article about Comfrey plants, and even one or two on eggshell decomposition. They even tested egg shells as a deterrent for snails (they did not seem to work), even showed a snail crawling across a razor blade.
So if you need something to read with a few videos mixed in you might check out some of the Garden Myths.

Larry - can you provide a link to the garden myths? I think I saw something on an English gardening program about what does or doesn't work with slugs and now I can't remember what did work. I know it wasn't egg shells.

I remember reading an article from this guy several years ago but can't remember the topic.

Great link, Larry thanks!

I agreed with the ones I read:

Sand CAN loosen clay soil (make it more friable), but compost is also needed, and needed more.

MR are helpful, but buying a packet of dead MR with a few irrelevant species, doesn't help.
Unless you are starting with bare, sterile subsoil.
