Hello,
I'm a new gardener and experienced some issues last summer. I planted some sweet potatoes that grew fine but had bug predation so bad the "havest" was ruined totally. I'm going organic. What can I do about this?

Sweet potatoes for me have few above ground pests except rabbits and deer. I would suggest that your first step is to identify the "bug". There may be an "organic" deterrent. U of Maryland has sweet potato experts which will consult with your county agricultural extension agent. It will pay you to get acquainted with your county agent.

I've done well with sweet potatoes as a novice grower of those, but somewhat experienced general gardener. Actually, our weather in 2016 this area was fantastic and I got huge ones. I'd encourage you to try again. Are they in full sun? Bugs on leaves, or in the tubers?
