Is it still possible to add a new category to "my lists"?

Yes it is. Just go to your List and scroll down on the right hand side of the page to where it says "Manage categories" and click on that. Scroll down to the bottom of that page and that's where you can add a new category.

And keep in mind that one can categorize more than once. I have categories for type of plant (tree, perennial, etc.) as well as for attributes (fragrant, medicinal, etc.). Often each plant has 3-4 categories. Helpful for sorting. My winter project is to go through and update my entire list, being sure each has a photo associated with it and a comment. I use the notes section for growing info specific to me (when it emerges, blooms, etc.) I really like this feature of the Garden website.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
