Hello Gardeners!

This week, starting immediately,-January 16- 23 at 6:00 CT- there is an acorn bounty on recommendations in our Green Pages.

What is a bounty? This means that acorns (or extra acorns) are awarded to a particular area of the site for a specified amount of time. This is a great way to earn acorns for our Not-A-Raffle-Raffles!

The particulars:
Two acorns will be awarded for each company that you endorse without writing a review. There is a maximum of 5 companies that you may endorse without a written review.
Ten acorns will be awarded for each company that you endorse with a written review. Each review must be at least 3 sentences long. There is a maximum of 5 companies you may endorse with a written review.
-You may endorse 5 written and 5 (different) unwritten reviews to earn the maximum acorns.

**Remember that endorsements are taken seriously! Use your knowledge and power very thoughtfully so that the NGA is endorsing the best possible companies for the benefit of all gardeners.*** Any attempt at "gaming the system" will result in your comments being deleted and your acorns not awarded or taken away. No exceptions.

Ready, Set, Go!

For the newbies it might be handy to point in the direction of where to find the Green Pages. Also - how do we add nurseries that are not currently listed?

Click on Tools & Apps in the menu bar at the top, then click on Green Pages.

There's a link on the Green Pages front page to add a company. Also if you search for a company, the link to add one is on that page, too.

Sometime ago I listed a garden center in the Dallas area. I noticed that I entered main facts like address, etc. but never went back to write a review. Will it count if I go back and write a review? This garden center deserves one.

Also, is it ok to add stores, websites, books, whatever that are dedicated to birds? Or are we sticking with plants?

Only add entries for companies or books, etc that deal with plants and gardening. And yes, please do write a review of that garden center in Dallas. That's exactly what we want to see!

Whoops, I didn't see this thread and I neglected to read the words in the particulars here until now

I am presuming that we can actually endorse more than 10 total companies, if we chose to, in the grand scheme of things, but that for the 'acorn bounty' exercise, here this week, that acorns will be awarded only for 10 total endorsements of different companies, 5 no review/5 review--is that the idea?

Then the bit about the review must be at least 3 sentences...so, if I have at least 3 ideas in one or two poorly punctuated sentences, do I need to edit my reviews to create at least 3 sentences in order to earn said acorns?

Thanks,

You can totally endorse more than 10 companies, you just won't get extra acorns for the 11th and beyond. As for the length, we say three sentences because we don't want people to just write "I love this company." We're looking for thoughtful reviews. I'm not going to count the sentences on the reviews. Probably I'll do a word count and if it is greater than 18 words or something then I'll award the extra acorns.

The bonus acorns have been sent. 44 different members participated and a total of 1,268 bonus acorns were given out! What a great response! Thank you @Trish for the idea to do this. Smiling

Wow! That was fun, and I thank you for the acorns. I'm happy to see the Green Pages filling out and more book reviews. I hope members will keep on adding to these areas since they are a wonderful resource.
