Found two False Aster plants in the database -- cannot really tell the difference between them.
Help, please.

Hi Lin,
I wasn't sure if it's Boltonia asteroids or Boltonia decurrens.. They look very similar to me.
Leaning towards the asteroids.
Thank you!

Sasha, depending on where your plant is located, it's probably B. asteroides. I've been reading abouit B. decurrens and it appears that one is a rare and threatened species found only in a limited area: http://www.illinoiswildflowers...

MOBOT states that it is a threatened species only known to occur along the Illinois River in west central Illinois and along the Mississippi River in both Illinois and Missouri just north of St. Louis: http://www.missouribotanicalga...

Wikipedia states that the plant's distribution has been fragmented into about 20 separate populations, mostly in Illinois: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
