Hello, I live in McNeal, Az. SE corner of the state and I am in zone 8. I was wondering if my avocado tree will grow outside? I started it from seed and its about 2' tall. I wanted to plant it outside this year.

Most avocados need to be planted in zone 9b or 10. I think it would be iffy where you are. You might be able to cover it in winter, but that would be a pain. There is no guarantee it would survive outdoors in your area.

Sure, it would probably grow fine in a greenhouse if you have room for it. They get very large fairly quickly.

A lot depends upon what type of avocado you grew your tree from. Do you remember? Then you can look up that variety and see what the minimum temps are.

If your greenhouse stays above about 40 degrees, the tree would be fine.

If you want to grow one ouside get a mexicola stuart. They can tolerate down to 15 f. But young trees need to be protected from frost the first few years of there lifes.or you'll lose them. Research avocados to see different varieties, temp tolerances and care.
