I've grown Salvia greggii 'Pink Preference' for so long that I don't remember when and where I got it. It has been planted in the ground in one of my front-yard flower beds. The flower bed is bordered by the driveway, the sidewalk that's parallel to the street, and two of the sides are bordered by grass. I have rocks that edge the flowerbed. The small to large size rocks are mostly flat and stacked.

I love the color, which is a bright rosy-pink. I've grown lighter pink salvias before, but this one is bright enough that it stands out. I'm thinking about getting a couple more. I love that the flowers attract the hummingbirds and butterflies.

It's always survived our zone 6a winters, and it's nice that it does because a lot of Autumn Sages (Salvia greggii) are only hardy to zone 7.

I got my original plant from Bustani Plant Farm several years ago when they still did mail order. Despite very limited hummer use, I continue to take cuttings and grow pink preference every year because I love the shiny, rich green greggii foliage and the hot pink blooms. It's just a great-looking plant that I don't want to lose.

Now that you mention it, that's most likely where I got mine when they were doing mail order.

I wished they didn't stop doing mail order. Crying
