What is the best thing to do for an AV that has, over time, developed kind of a "stalk" ? Just start anew by rooting some leaves? Or cut it off or something and root the stalk? I'm afraid I'm not all that serious about my houseplants but they seem to do pretty well in spite of my lack of attention; I've started lots of new AV plants in the past and will probably do that again in this case, but wondering if it would be better to just re-root the stalk, if that's even possible. Confused

I'm not AV expert, but I did have one that formed a stalk about 3 inches high from me removing dead leaves over years and years. I finally uprooted it and buried it deeper so the plant looked normal again. It worked very well. No problems at all. I have no idea if this is recommended or unwise. I hope others will chime in. It is still blooming well, and it's about 15 years old.

Thank you, Karen -- that certainly sounds like a reasonable approach to take! Thumbs up
