Just want to document the growth of my plant.
Got it last Nov 2016. I have heard of the solid green Aspidistra elatior, then I saw this variegated one, and I like variegated leaves. I have this corner shady area that I have been experimenting on for the past few years. Either plant gets cooked by too much heat even while in shade or killed by bad rain/cold combo in winter.

Dec 2016
20Dec2016 - we had some rains, but intervals were good, with temps going down overnight from mid 40F's to mid 30F's: plant holding steady

Jan 2017 - winter in full swing, we really got more rains this time around. Thankfully when it rains, overnight temps stay in the mid 40F's but daytime high is only from low to mid 50F's. Then when the rain stops, overnight temps will plunge back to the low30F's:
Observing the plant, it is handling it well, seeing nice new growth too:

20Jan2017- still getting daily rains at times: really loving this plant..holding itself very well.

Will continue on updating this thread, I want to see how it grows when our usual super dry weather starts to return in mid to late Spring.

March 2017 update, my Aspidistra has made some blooms! Hurray!
It is not that impressive looking and I am not sure if what I am seeing is the end part of the blooming period, or is it just soaked with the rains we are having since yesterday.
But happy to see it! Now I know what it looks like, easy to miss actually, growing at soil level.
