we have a giant piece that broke off in the wind about 12 feet can we stick the piece in the ground will it grow. It has no roots broke off near the base of the plant

Try it ! You'll prodably want to trim it back ? To say 1 to 2 feet. Thumbs up

Is it just one leaf, or the whole stem that broke? Could you post a picture of the piece? In any case, I don't think either will root, certainly not the leaf. But the plant will put up new stems from the root. Keep it from drying out, once the weather warms up give it a little fertilizer, and keep it well watered through the summer.

I had a large clump of big Birds "removed" c/w roots dug out and all, at least 3 years ago, and it is still putting up pups in the summer.
