I've never heard of it before - my first thought was if your corn is parched, water it. Smiling

But here's some info:

Parched corn? Isn't that the same thing we used to by in little baggies called "Corn Nuts?" Salty, crunchy little snack things?

No sir @woofie.
Your funny ๐Ÿ˜ @daisyl. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
I stumbled across an artical on them on this web site. You let it get perty dry. Harvest it to air tight containers. It keeps for at least 3 months. To prepare. Take dry skillet. Roast ! Till kernals mostly stop poping. They jump like popcorn. So cover and shake so they dont burn. There suspose to come out tender ๐Ÿ˜ฎ!
Kind of snack thing i guess. Shrug! But as you chew them... They get sweeter ? Artical written in i think 1994. Referred to seeds of change and native seeds/search. For seeds.
Sounds interesting to me ๐Ÿ˜!!!

There's an article here http://www.offthegridnews.com/... that gives instructions. You can use field corn or sweet corn, harvested when the kernels have dried.

Sandy ! Very interestig article bout parching corn. I also liked the pemmican jerkey recipe. I never knew it was a style of jerkey.
For a diferent perspective on Parching Corn, where i discovered it, go to NGA's food gardening guide and put in parching corn. Article by Carol Deppe. June 23,2008. A hole different perspective on Parching corn. It isnt hard like corn nuts. @woofie. Its specific types of Flour Corn Varities. I'll come back and let y'all know where i got my seeds at !
