I rescued 10 more Phals from WM today at $4.96/ea. Have them repotted already and my humidity tubs ready to go. Just have to get my plastic louver material from Lowe's tomorrow so I can set them up.

You're doing great with those Phals. ! When are you going to branch out and try some other species? For most of us, Phals are the hardest orchid to grow well.

I don't know if I will Carol, for me these are the easiest. I've got quite a few of my older ones spiking again this year, I've got the one with 4 maybe 5 keikis on it and most all have new leaves coming out.

I'm amazed that the store is making them down while they still have flowers , leaves and roots.. nice score!

Good finds Chris! I like Phals too, because of their long bloom period...next to them the Oncidiums, hard to drown, always thirsty. Smiling

No kidding! Our WMs have all but eliminated their garden shops to make room for groceries, but I've never seen any of the big box stores mark down anything that wasn't near death around here.

I've got kind of an 'in' with the plant manager at ours and she lets me know about when they'll be marking them down. She takes care of them by adding a couple of ice cubes like it says on the tags and they stay healthy and blooming a lot longer. I need to get in touch with my contact at a local nursery and order some more Rexius orchid bark I've got about enough left for about 3 more orchids.
