I want a tow behind tiller for my garden/lawn tractor. I do not have 3 point hitch, so was thinking of a gas powered one...then I came across an ad selling one that hooks up with belts/pully in place of mower attachment.
SO, I am wondering...Can the pully type work fast if the tractor is in neutral, sitting? I want to really work the ground, so that when I do rows with my walk behind, it is well enough chewed up, some will be new garden.

I have a john deere rototiller attached to my garden tractor. Yes it is belt/pully driven. I've had it for 24 years. We grease the zerk fittings every year, have replaced the belt maybe 4 times in all those years. I love it. Upon start up, i let the engine warm up, put it in first gear [manual transmission], flip the switch to engage the tiller, lower the tiller housing with a lever and go down the row. The left side of the tiller is in line with the left tires, so i can till as close as i want to my vegetables. When finished, my soil looks like velvet.
