I noticed this morning that the forsythia along one of the office building walls are in full bloom already. Don't remember them blooming the 1st week of February before!

For screen over seeds, I was getting tips from Jo Ann Gentle on how she does her poppies and she told me that she gets a roll of fiberglass screen door replacement from Lowes, HD, and I think they even have it a Wal-Mart. I got a 48" width at HD and it was easy peasy to roll out over my new poppy bed.

That is a great idea! I've salvaged hardware cloth from various places and I use that but it is SO EXPENSIVE that I hesitate buying any. I never thought of screen door screening....in fact, that might be the thing to use on my strawberry bed protection to keep the birds out. I tried using bird netting, but Oh my god, the poor birds got tangled in it and one died. Never again. Thanks Terri!
