So while out in the woods I came across a few seperate tree stumps with these cones or whatever they are im not sure, sorry the pics a little blurry. It appears that an animal is using the stumps as a diner table lol does anyone know who the culprit is and what it is eating? I'm thinking squirell but who knows.

Squirrels do that. They are harvesting the seeds from the cones.

I've seen squirrels do that with pine cones.

No wild boar here tarev thankfully! that would be one the last thing id like to run into out here particularly a full blown male so glad we don't have them roaming about.
Yes lynn and lin that's the only animal I could think of that's out here. As for the cone thing its longer thinner and lighter than a pine cone both weight and colour and quite spongy when squeezed.

All evergreen cones have seeds of some kind, and the squirrel seems to have plenty to eat.
What kind of evergreen trees do you have close by?

Actually lynn I remember seeing a sign at one time stating cypress something if that helps I want to say pine but I'm not sure somethings making me think it was referring to a deciduous tree maybe oak. Those trees where infected with a root disease I believe. Other than that I only know to refer to the evergreens as pine trees.

Thanks lynn I'll have a look and just done some googling and the sign I was referring to was in regard to the lawson cypress which is infected with Phytophthora lateralis.

I tried searching conifer cones identification followed by grid reference and name. Search took 0.01 seconds results are 14 squares within 4km and only 1 picture with no identification. Wow

I checked the link lynn and I'll head back out tomorrow! I do recall seeing the one with blueish needles which caught my attention very pretty but that was at a different location I'm almost certain the cones I found came from the ones with green needles.

Lol I know philip I thought the same! apart from that we don't have any chipmunks here unless they escaped from captivity or where released! I see the grey squirrel quite often but not many reds. I didn't get out there today for an update on the cone lynn but hopefully I get a chance tomorrow!

Philip are you a member of the fresno cactus and succulent society? I remember watching a few video on that awhile back! Some really nice plants. Here's the video if your interested. Note when they are asked about their expeditions lol

Sy... Im more into veges than cati.
I never knew chipmunks only lived in asia and north america. Of course 😕 never really thought about it. Asia has the Siberian.but north america has all kinds of them.
Siberian chipmunks come from korea. But korea .years ago exported for pets. So now there all over asia.
Oh😁😁😁 Look at my cute little pet "chippy" !!! " ouch # why you little s.o.b. 😡 " out the door goes chippy.
So !!!! Watch out for chippy !!!
He's a man eater 😬😬😬
