The Old Calendar is more a measure of the strength of the sun's light than of climate/temperature conditions. It's really helpful if you look at it from a gardening/agricultural sort of view: I know that around Feb 2 the length of the day will be a bit longer and my hens will start to lay more eggs. And despite snow on the ground, it is time to start seeds (indoors)! and the birds are more active! Think SPRING! Thumbs up
The end is nothing, the journey is all.

We have had 3 days with highs in the 60s and now we are supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow tomorrow. It's weird.

I have no luck with winter sowing. Now I just wait until the weather settles down and plant my cold hardy annuals directly.
The end is nothing, the journey is all.
