I lost the tag. I think it is an Aloe. Beautiful, IMO. Cannot even imagine what an older, larger one would look like. If I knew the name I'd put it on my wish list. 2.5" square pot. Hard to get a good pix of it. Gene

I believe it to be Aloe haworthioides, but the stem is throwing me off a bit

Yes, I believe you are correct. I Googled that name and most all the pix match. Stem just says it is old. I'd love to have an even older one but maybe I am just dreaming. Gene

It is beautiful as it is. Not having grown that plant, I am guessing that it might be fuller if you cut the head off and replanted it in fresh soil. That sort of rejuvenation (part of my normal routine with stemmy succulents) can really work wonders some times. I'm guessing the plant has been in the same pot for a few years now.

Oh boy. Off with it's head? I'll repot it as it has probably been a while but I forgo the surgery for now. If I can find another one this size or bigger in the Spring (when it is warm enough to have plants shipped) I might do that. Gene

Gene, I think your ID is correct but it is a smaller growing aloe. That must be an old one with a trunk like that. I purchased a hybrid of same called Aloe descoingsii x haworthioides which is smaller growing. Picture looked bigger and was surprised when I received it.

I cut it up into different pots and figured it would grow bigger if pups were all removed.
