This plant was a gift from my mother. She simply called it a butterfly bush. It died a couple of years ago and I would like to replace it. Can anyone identify it?

Thank You!

Buddleja looks similar to that but I kind of think your plant also looks like a type of sage/salvia.

Edited to add link. Here is the salvia I was thinking of.
Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha 'Santa Barbara')
Sunset Zone 28, AHS Heat Zone 9, USDA zone 8b~"Leaf of Faith"

Me too. I can't remember is it was aromatic or not (the leaves)...

How about Salvia leucantha (Mexican Sage).

Thank you, Dee Smiling

It is definitely a Mexican Bush Sage. Now at least I can check the local nurseries and know what to ask for to see if I can find a match.
Thank You!

Thank-you for the acorns!
I have a bunch of these planted along a low fence line, they are a nice plant. Mine seem to be "ageing out" too, they are quite old and seem to be dying back rather than getting larger. I bought a white flowering one last year.
